Biography / History
On January 23, 1926, a group of twenty-eight women gathered at the Jackson City Club to organize a local branch of the American Association of University Women. By April, the new Jackson branch's constitution had been approved. Forty-four women from twenty colleges and universities formed the charter membership.

By September 1934, membership had increased to 160, and new study groups were formed for International Relations, Modern Explanations of Personality, Junior Group, and World Affairs.

In 2025, the members of the Jackson Branch voted to dissolve and held a 100th-anniversary celebration at the Cascades Manor on May 21, 2026.
